Mission almost failed: Bogotá and Costa Rica!
Bogotá deserved more than 2 days of visit in our minds. In the end we spent just one and a half trying to cover everything. The times when the hours were not important have gone a few weeks ago, when we bought our return ticket home. Everything has to be done in time now, with no delays or extra days of rest. I suppose this will mean less weight for the two of us...
This is what we could visit in Bogotá: the salt cathedral, at 30 km from the capital, the very central president´s palace with the additional checks of bags every time we crossed the near-by street, and the gold museum with ancient treasures for the different precolumbian cultures. One section included the gold found in ciudad perdida. Very small section though, I suppose the rest of the gold can be found in private collections or thieves pockets.
And the most recent part of our jurney, our flight to Costa Rica, a true nightmare for our patience and health.
Explanation: due to a heavy fog, we could not land in San José (although we were like 10m above the ground when the pilot regreted our approach) and had to go to a nearby airport which happened to be Managua in Nicaragua. There we spent precious hours of deep hunger and upset minds to be told at 23 in the night that we had to go back to San José that night. We wanted to stay in Managua due to the fact that was better for our trip, but nothing could be done. All the screaming and claiming gave us money for a taxi to a central hotel. We are now heading to the Arenal Volcano, hoping for a better experience.
